FAQs

What is anti-Blackness?

Behaviors, attitudes and practices of people and institutions that work to dehumanize Black people in order to maintain white supremacy.

What is Here 4 the Kids organizing?

Here 4 the Kids is organizing a sit-in of 25,000+ white women from around the country on Monday, June 5, at 5am in Denver, Colorado to call on Colorado Governor Jared Polis to sign an Executive Order to ban guns and implement a statewide buyback program. See the full strategy here.

What is the role for Black, Indigenous and other People of Culture on June 5 in Denver?

Black, Indigenous and all people of culture are welcome to attend. However, we cannot ensure this will be a safe space for anyone with a marginalized identity. We are therefore asking white folks specifically to show up, put their bodies on the line, and do this work.

To ensure the safety of marginalized communities, we recommend Black, Indigenous and other People of Culture join us in the remote campaign.

Is there a remote campaign?

Yes! As we cannot guarantee ADA-compliant access and/or safety on the ground, we are encouraging people from marginalized and vulnerable communities to join the remote campaign:

  • Children under the age 18

  • BIPOC – Black, brown, indigenous, people of color

  • LGBTQIA+ – lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual and more

  • Disabled, chronically ill/immunocompromised, caregiving/caretaking

  • Non-citizens/non-visa holders

  • People experiencing financial insecurity.

While acknowledging everyone’s agency, our movement specifically asks white women who are least likely to be brutalized by the police and hold multiple intersections of privilege and power to join us in Denver to take up physical space and demand change.

Our remote campaign is an accessible and safe opportunity to take direct action online, uplift the direct action happening on the ground in Denver on June 5, and center voices of those who are most at risk for gun violence at the hands of white supremacy.

Will this event be accessible for the Disabled Community?

This is an act of civil disobedience and we are not applying for permits, thus we cannot guarantee the direct action taking place on the ground in Denver will be accessible or safe for the disabled community. We recommend and invite folks from the disabled community to join our remote campaign.

How can I get involved if I am unable to attend?

Why Colorado? Will the movement be going to other places, too?

This is a national movement with a state focus. Colorado is step one.

Where exactly is the event happening?

On the lawn of the Colorado State Capitol: 200 E Colfax Ave in Denver, Colorado (yes, we really mean 5am on Monday, June 5).

Do I need to let you know I'm coming?

Yes! Let us know!

Is there a cost to attend?

There is no cost to attend.

What airport should I fly into?

The greater Denver area is serviced by Denver International Airport.
