Bathrooms: 

In addition to the public bathrooms noted on the map that generally open at 8 am, there will be additional designated bathrooms available nearby for Here4theKids participants on June 5 from 5 am to 8 pm and June 6, 7, 8 from 8 am to 8 pm. There are also nearby businesses with bathrooms that open as early as 5 am.

What to bring: 

  • A backpack with the essentials: a hat, COVID mask, umbrella, flashlight, sunscreen, lotion, vaseline, lip balm, hand sanitizer, tissues, any medications, rain poncho

  • Water, lunch and snacks

  • Phone with our map downloaded, back up battery charger, cord

  • A printout of the map — please familiarize yourself with the map and make a plan for transportation to and from Here4theKids and a meetup location in case you are separated from your buddies. The color areas and zone numbers are there to help you find your friends

  • If you would like to make and bring signs, we suggest the signs say “I am Here 4 the Kids”; “I am Here 4 <Your Child’s Name>; “Ban Guns & Buy Them Back”; or “We Can, We Will”. You can also see our strategy and messaging here

  • Something to sit on

  • If you are in Denver to grieve or protect a specific person, please bring photo printouts of that person (please make this someone you know and that you have permission to use the photograph)

  • Quotes or other readings and songs that are meaningful to you to share

  • A journal, pen, an object or playlist that soothes you

  • A buddy or two or three and a plan for where you will meet in case you get separated

  • Print outs of your own contact info, emergency contact info, medical info 

  • Print outs of your buddies’ contact info, emergency contact info, medical info 

  • If you are at Here4theKids by yourself, make sure your zone Care Team has your contact info, emergency contact info, and medical info

  • Make sure someone at home knows you’re at Here4theKids.


Do not bring:

  • Promotional materials for yourself or another organization

  • Recreational drugs or alcohol

  • Weapons of any kind

  • Pets

  • Bullhorns, noisemakers, megaphones, whistles, walkie-talkies.

Altitude:

  • Denver is high altitude, dry and sunny,

  • Less oxygen in the air can make you feel tired and weak

  • Eat lots of carbs drink lots of water don’t drink alcohol

  • Bring sunscreen, hats, protective clothing, lotion, vaseline, lip balm

  • Rest and don’t exert yourself

  • If you don’t feel well, take it seriously

  • We have spaces near the Capitol where you can rest, ask event volunteers

Weather:

  • Highs in low 70s lows in mid 50s throughout the week

  • Chance of mid afternoon thunderstorms

Sun hours:

  • Rise around 5:30 set around 8:25


What to wear: 

  • Layers, hat, comfortable sun protective clothing, sneakers.
